The loss of confidence by Waterford County Council members in An Bord Pleanala over its recent decisions on projects in the county has been brought to the personal attention of the Tanaiste and the Chairperson of the Planning Board.

The Council passed a resolution indicating they had lost confidence in An Bord Pleanala as a consequence of the number of planning permissions issued by the Council which were overturned on appeal to the Board.

Specific mention was made of the Bio Pharma Campus at Coolnamuck, Carrick-on-Suir and the Butlerstown Retail Centre, each of which have had serious implications for employment in both areas.

County Manager Ray O’Dwyer has given an assurance to Council members that officials were working through the various options available in both Coolnamuck and Butlerstown.
