The Dunhill Eco Park project was granted a loan of €50,000 by Waterford County Council this week which will act as a ‘seed fund’ for three new social enterprises employing 20-30 people in the county.

Director of Services Denis McCarthy said the Dunhill Eco Park had been successful in attracting €237,194 in EU funding under the Interreg Ireland-Wales Programme. It was part of an Irish-Wales Programme of €563,673 and was a countrywide social enterprise project.

The Council was told that the loan would be repaid with interest within nine months. The Council and the Waterford Community Forum were members of the Steering Committee, said Mr McCarthy.
