The furnace is now well and truly ignited and the phoenix has risen from the flames. For four former Waterford Crystal employees, the dream of returning to glass manufacture has been realised.
The newly formed Irish Handmade Glass Company is now producing glass and crystal ware at their impressive, newly constructed premises on Henrietta Street, in the heart of the city’s Viking Triangle.
Richard Rowe from Mooncoin and city men Derek Smith, Tony Hayes and Danny Murphy are now crafting exquisite glass products through their combined experience of over 130 years.
The quartet’s determination to succeed and their commitment to the project only goes to show that the closure of Waterford Crystal at Kilbarry didn’t signal the end of their working lives.
Their new company offers alternative products to what they previously crafted while working with Waterford Crystal.
