Decline of 23% in IDA/EI jobs reported

The number of people employed at Waterford-based companies supported by the IDA or Enterprise Ireland (EI) has fallen by 23 per cent since 2008, newly released figures have confirmed.
Waterford experienced a net loss of 2,583 State-sponsored jobs in the five year period of 2008-2012, the third largest drop in the country.

Calls to open city centre to traffic

THE possibility of re-opening the city centre to traffic to facilitate retailers was put forward at the April meeting of Waterford City Council.Labour Councillor Seamus Ryan suggested opening the area after 6pm in order to combat the number of city centre retail closures.

Manager confident of further jobs for city

CITY Manager Michael Walsh is hopeful of more significant job announcements in Waterford within the coming months. Mr Walsh was speaking to students at the Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) Department of Architecture on Hanover Street
