Around 200 Fianna Fáil members attended the party’s regional conference in Waterford last Saturday.
Organised by Waterford City Comhairle Ceanntair on behalf of the organisation throughout Waterford, the one day conference, with a tagline of “Preparing Waterford for the Economic Recovery”, was open to Fianna Fáil members, friends and supporters.
Local members in attendance were addressed by Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport Mary Hanafin, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe and Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey.
Brian Crowley MEP was also a guest.
The conference was part of a series of seminars and meetings currently being held in constituencies around the country.
Deputy Brendan Kenneally TD said the conference was a great success.
“The members often go to Ard Fheiseanna, but they don’t get the same interaction with Ministers at that forum as they had today. They could ask a question directly to a Minister that they wanted answered about Waterford city or county. They were able to get a question answered honestly and openly.”
He said local members appreciated the interaction with senior party members.
“They’re all delighted with the opportunities given to them, they never had that chance before. Our grassroots have been crying out to have this avenue through to the Ministers to give forward their views.”
