Enterprise Ireland welcomed a group of leading retailers to Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and the greater South East region this week as part of its North American Retail Technology Event, 2019.
The group of buyers from across the US and Canada spent Monday visiting a number of companies to see their innovative products and services firsthand. These include Liquid Edge, local digital analytics company, WayFinder, navigation tech start-up and AR/VR, an Augmented and Virtual Reality technology business.

Commenting during the visit, Enterprise Ireland Regional Director in the South East, Martin Corkery said, “The global retail landscape is already dramatically evolving and is set for further change over the course of the next twenty years. Applying technology to a retail environment can improve customer and staff interactions, offer faster transactions and improve the customer experience.
“With the support of Enterprise Ireland and Waterford Institute of Technology, a wide range of research and development (R&D) is being facilitated in the region to meet the future global digital expansion demands in the sector.“WIT’s West Campus in Carriganore is home to five research and innovation centres – Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG), RIKON, Arclabs Research & Innovation Centre, Nutrition Research Centre Ireland (NRCI) and the National Biodiversity Data Centre.
“Collaboration and meaningful partnerships are at the very centre of achieving the objectives outlined in our regional development strategy, Powering the Regions, and Enterprise Ireland is delighted to support the work of these centres.“This week’s inward buyer visit is about showcasing the innovation on offer in the region and already the feedback from the buyers that are visiting the region, is nothing but positive.”
