Denis Landy elected to Seanad Éireann

6th May 2011 | Carrick-on-Suir

He may well be a lone political voice from a geographical perspective, but Denis Landy’s election to the Seanad is welcome news for Carrick-on-Suir and a fitting reward for a committed public servant.
While the national picture is now the primary priority of all Oireachtas members, there’s little doubt that Carrick has suffered from its positioning at the extremity of the Tipperary South constituency.

Council’s rebuff to Royals rumbles on

“Visitors from all around the world ave travelled to Dunganstown since JFK’s visit 50 years ago,” said Cllr Pierce O’Loughlin. “Were the Queen of England to visit Ormond Castle, it would do wonders for tourist numbers in Carrick-on-Suir.”

Council rejects claims of ‘Bypass arrogance’

South Tipperary County Council has rejected claims made by Carrick-on-Suir residents that it has acted arrogantly regarding local concerns over the proposed re-routing of the town’s proposed N24 Bypass.
