Construction workers digging for gold and jewels in Tramore!
There was a flurry of activity in Tramore last week when a rumour flew about the town and city that workers engaged on extending the main slipway off The Promenade had discovered a chest full of gold coins and jewels buried deep in the sand.
Some even suggested that the treasure came from the ‘Sea Horse’, a military ship that floundered close to shore in January 1813.
A member of the public asked a Council official about the rumours: “Were the gold coins you are asking about so bright and yellow that they would almost dazzle you and were the jewels so big, sparking and vibrant that they would take your breath away?” enquired the spokesperson.
“Yes, yes, that’s it,” cried the excited member of the public. “Ah no, sorry, we found nothing like that, only mud and silt,” said the official. Damn. Foiled again but it was good while it lasted!
