Dungarvan served up a tasty feast during last weekend’s West Waterford Festival of Food. The highlight of the four day extravaganza was the giant Farmers’ and Country Market in Grattan Square on Sunday. The festival, which was billed as “a celebration of local produce and culinary excellence”, certainly lived up to expectations and the high standards which were set in previous years.
The inclement weather may have disrupted some plans for Saturday’s events, but Dungarvan managed to even glimpse a clear blue sky for a period on Sunday afternoon. Tempting aromas wafted throughout the Dungarvan air (helped in no small part by some gale force winds for a time!) as crowds wandered leisurely along the streets.
O’Connell Street almost resembled a Mediterranean style market, with quirky stalls showcasing products for the home as well as delicious food. Lots of family fun combined with glorious food to make this a thoroughly enjoyable weekend for all in attendance.
A host of fringe activities took place around the town and in nearby Lismore, ensuring plenty of spin-off benefits from the main events.
