Eden, a play by Eugene O’Brien opens at the Theatre Royal next week for four nights only, starting on Wednesday May 24th. It is directed by Ben Barnes with the same team that brought us the excellent production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane late last year. I saw Eden several years ago and while it was a hazy memory at first, a quick glance over the script brought it all back. As a writer Eugene O’Brien has a tremendous gift for creating ‘normal’ dysfunctional characters without judging them in any way. Indeed his talent lies in creating people, or facets of those people, that we can all easily identify with.
