Well, with just a week left of debating, we head to the polling booths on Friday next, the 25th when the people have the last word. On the following day we will again enjoy the drama of the Count – Democracy’s big day out! Once again the famed tallymen will be calling it with their number-crunching with running predictions of trends, bringing tales of joy or woe.
The National Picture
Nationally there are 43 constituencies which return 166 TD’s to Dail Eireann. But as the Ceann Comhairle is automatically returned so as to maintain continuity between one Dail and the next this general election will see the election of 165 TD’s to the 31h Dail.
