Waterford is surely fortunate in the quality and range of its schools at both primary and secondary level. Today we take a look at Waterpark College, one of our distinguished secondary schools with a proud record of educational achievement, along with a strong history of sport (rugby in particular). There is also a great tradition for societies, such as debating; former minister Martin Cullen first honed his debating skills while a student at the college, as did many others. Incidentally, some other noted alumni include Mario Rosenstock, comedian and political satirist; Brian Havel, Director of Law, De Paul University, Chicago; John Hearne, chief architect of the 1937 Irish Constitution; and Kieran Walsh, MD and editor of The Munster Express.
