For the second week running, Carrick United scored four goals in the Lucozade Sport Munster Junior Cup and they are now through to meet Pike Rovers from Limerick away in the last four.
The previous week they defeated Regional from Limerick 4-0 in Tom Drohan Park and as a result of that victory they had to travel to Kerry on Sunday last to play Lisselton, who had knocked Tramore out of the competition a fortnightly earlier.
When Mossie Akierko put the home side in front in the first half it looked as if the Kingdom side would see off another Waterford League outfit.
Lisselton held their advantage until the break. However, Carrick were a completely different team in the second half and when Alan Ryan equalised five minutes into the second period the game was turned on its head and the local Premier League leaders went goal crazy with Keith Walsh scoring two in the space of four minutes shortly after Ryan’s strike.
Sub Glan Keane completed the scoring 10 minutes from full-time. It was all too much for the home side as they had two players sent off in the dying minutes.
The Villa, Waterford’s other remaining club in the Munster Cup, will play Nenagh Celtic on Sunday next.
