John O’Brien (41), with an address at Ballinakill Downs, Waterford, has been found not guilty of the murder of his wife Meg Walsh between October 1st and 15th 2006.
The verdict given by the jury of seven men and five women at the Circuit Criminal Court came just minutes after our Weekender Edition went to press.
Following almost five and a half hours of deliberations, which included an overnight hotel stay, the jury returned its verdict to Mister Justice Barry White this (Friday) afternoon.
Over 120 witnesses took to the stand during a trial which began on April 14th.
