As most of us do, I know many proud members of Fianna Fáil. Saying you don’t is akin to saying you don’t know anyone involved in the GAA.
Through my job, I’ve met many of their elected officials, men such as Kilkenny’s Liam Aylward, his brother Bobby, New Ross’s Sean Connick and Brendan Kenneally in Waterford.
And forget not Martin Cullen, a man who in reality is cuts a far different figure from the crude caricature created by his most vitriolic detractors.
They’re all decent, amiable individuals who chose a career path unappealing to most of us: to stand before the public, to either gain acclaim or face the music.
