Gracedieu Manor Retreat House

The Gracedieu Manor Retreat House on the Tramore-Waterford Road, is to become the temporary home of all court proceedings currently brought before Waterford Courthouse during the latter’s refurbishment and extension.
In a statement issued to The Munster Express, a Courts Service spokesperson confirmed:
“During the refurbishment and construction of the new elements of the Courthouse, Gracedieu Manor Retreat House…has been selected to be used to hear all matters currently heard in Waterford Courthouse.
“More exact details will be released nearer the time of the proposed move of business later this year. We remain in planning and contract negotiations regarding this matter.”
The Courts Service is to proceed later this year with the refurbishment and extension of Waterford Courthouse, a move made possible by the Waterford Fire Service’s long-awaited move to its new Ballybeg Station.
“It is part of a public private partnership – arrangement whereby €135 million is being invested in court facilities in seven locations nationwide,” the spokesperson added. “Planning permission has already been attained for the project.
“A preferred bidder has been announced and detailed contract negotiations are underway.
The building works are due to commence around November this year and will take approximately two years to complete.”
