Dungarvan Hospital

Nursing staff at Dungarvan Community Hospital have launched a series of industrial actions this week to highlight the shortage of nursing staff.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation members will commence with a lunchtime protest tomorrow (Tuesday), followed by a work-to-rule from 8am on Monday, November 21st.

There are currently 12 unfilled, whole time equivalent nursing positions at the hospital. A further seven posts have become vacant because of absences, including maternity leave, and these staff have not been replaced.

“The shortage of nursing staff has been ongoing for quite some time and while we have met management on many occasions, the HSE have failed to recruit enough nurses for Dungarvan Community Hospital to meet the service needs,” according to INMO regional spokesperson Mary Power.
