Three young men were detained at Waterford Garda Station last week following the theft of a van at St Johns Park last Thursday night.
The theft was reported at around 12.55am and, shortly afterwards, Gardaí on patrol stopped the vehicle on Scotch Quay. Three youths were arrested and detained at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. A fourth escaped. The three arrested men are aged between 19 and 23 years.
Meanwhile, a burglary took place at College Court between 2pm and 8.20pm last Thursday in which an engagement ring was stolen. Entry was gained via the front window of the property.
On the same day, between 7.45pm and 11pm, a Samsung laptop and a Playstation 3 were stolen from a house at Gleann Ard, Dunmore East. The house was entered through the back kitchen window.
Waterford Garda Station are also trying to locate the owner of a large sum of money which was found outside Supervalu in Morgan Street on Christmas week. It’s thought the money was lost between December 22nd and 24th.
