resavedS1PicA When I first met Kay Forristal from Ferrybank she was preparing to take a major  step into the unknown.
In May, I interviewed Kay about her efforts in establishing The Company Club.
During that interview, Kay explained that she was seeking to establish a group  aimed at providing widowed, divorced, separated or single people with a social  network which would enable them to build new friendships.
Kay lost her husband John to cancer in October 2010.
Adjusting to life without her beloved John presented Kay with many difficulties.
Despite having the support of a loving family, she nevertheless experienced the  loneliness and isolation which can come with losing a loved one.
However, instead of resigning herself to this, Kay decided to take action.
Since the first meeting of The Company Club which was held on Wednesday May 22nd at The Showboat, The Glen, Kay’s initiative has attracted more than 170 people.
Recent activities have included a night at Dickie Rock’s concert in The Tower Hotel and a Sunday outing to Ardmore.
A trip to Killarney is included on the list of upcoming activities.
Smaller outings have also taken place, with some members meeting up for a simple chat and a cup of coffee.
