The reigning Dr Harty and Dr Croke Cup Holders, Dungarvan Colleges will not be contesting the titles in the coming season after a recent annual meeting of Munster colleges GAA voted against allowing amalgamations in the 2013/2014 School year. It’s a call that will annoy many schools across the province who is trying to promote Hurling at the highest possible level within the colleges’ scene where numbers are small. Munster Council Colleges Chiefs seem to have made the call not to allow amalgamated sides in the competition following the success of Waterford sides earlier this year, when Dungarvan Colleges (Dungarvan CBS and Saint Augustine’s College) won the Dr Harty and Dr Croke Cups. Meanwhile, Dungarvan CBS were also to win the Munster Senior ‘B’ and All-Ireland Senior ‘B’ finals, while Saint Augustine’s also took part in the Munster ‘B’ Championship.
