A sparkling performance from centre-forward Eamonn Murphy inspired Dunhill/Fenor to dethrone county champions Mount Sion in Ballygunner last Saturday.

Murphy finished with an incredible tally of 1-13, 1-7 of which came from play as he almost single-handedly dragged his side to the County Final. Mount Sion came into this game as roaring hot favourites having already beaten their opponents comprehensively in the league phase of this championship. However, Dunhill/Fenor did not read the script and inspired by Murphy they easily accounted for their more illustrious opponents.

It was a bright and breezy day in Ballygunner when this game started. Dunhill/Fenor played with the breeze in the first half and they took full advantage and raced into an early four point lead. Eamonn Murphy made his intentions known very early on as he scored each of his team’s four early points.

Mount Sion star and Munster minor player of the year, Martin O’Neill scored his side’s first point of the game when he tapped over a free after ten minutes.
