SHC RD4 Dungarvan v Ballygunner Dungarvan 2-13
Ballygunner 1-19
Ballygunner, knowing they had to take a win from last Sunday’s visit to Fraher  Field, didn’t disappoint their faithful following when they produced a fine  performance to overcome Dungarvan by three points, thus keeping their SHC  hopes alive.
For much of this game, the side from the city were the better of the two sides, but  they had to withstand a late surge by a Dungarvan side that finished with 14  players after Gavin Crotty was dismissed having collected a second yellow card in  the 45th minute.
Given the scenes of the initial minutes of the game, Crotty could well have had  some additional company after players ‘got to know each other’ with some ferocity in the opening minutes. As it was, both Crotty and Wayne Hutchison received yellows from referee Thomas Walsh, along with Gary Molloy. Had all those yellows been straight reds, in my view, none could have complained with such a brandishing.
When the two sides did settle down, it was Ballygunner that were first to score as Pauric Mahony put over a brace of scores inside a minute of each other, the first coming from a free, the latter from play.
