Quarter Final of the Waterford Senior Hurling championship Mt.Si Mount Sion 2-22
Tallow 1-7
Mount Sion’s signs of recovery as a major club force in a Championship they’ve  traditionally dominated were ably demonstrated by their authoritative 18-point win  over a stunned Tallow at Fraher Field on Sunday afternoon last.
The Bridesiders went into this game with a good win over De La Salle in their last game  under their belts which should have given them confidence, but they never looked as  though they were going to get anything from this game. For this was all about Cnoc Síon,
The Monastery men went into the game minus the services of Martin O’Neill, Ian Galgey  and Peter Penkert, all who are out for the year with cruciate and hand injuries and in the  hour leading up to this game they lost corner-back Michael King who was injured in the  warm-up.
Tallow played with the aid of a strong wind at their backs in the opening half, but it was the city side that had the much better start.
Stephen Roche put over an early free which was followed on four minutes by a Sean Ryan goal after he was brilliantly picked out by Martin ‘Fish’ O’Neill.
Points from All-Ireland winning minor star Austin Gleeson, Martin O’Neill and a brace from Stephen Roche soon followed for the Monastery men which gave them a 1-6 to 0-0 lead with 13 minutes on the clock. Mount Sion were ripping it up while Tallow couldn’t draw breath.
