A man was handed a court fine for a drug possession charge at a recent sitting of Waterford District Court.
Eoin Cooley (45) of 54 Connolly Place, Waterford, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a drug (namely cocaine) for his own personal use contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977.
The court heard that on 23 June 2024, Gardaí discovered the accused to be in the “process of snorting white powder” at a location in Waterford City Centre.
After a search took place under the Misuse of Drugs Act, he was found to be in possession of cocaine to the value of €50. When questioned by Gardaí, he subsequently admitted to possessing it for his own use.
It was stated that the accused has four previous convictions.
