It was heard in court recently that directions are expected ‘soon’ in the case of a man accused of the murder of Yveta Donovalova in Waterford last April.
Tomas Marvanek (39) with an address at 47 Grange Heights, Waterford city, appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton at Waterford District Court this month via video link from Cork Prison, where he is currently being held on remand.
He is charged with the murder of Ms Donovalova, after she was allegedly fatally assaulted at her home in Grange Heights on Monday 27 April.
A Czech interpreter was present in court last week to translate the proceedings to the accused.
Sergeant Michael Hickey said that while directions in the case are still with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), they are expected ‘soon’, and that a book of evidence will likely be completed within the next four weeks.
Acting for the defendant, solicitor Ken Cunningham said that once a book of evidence is completed in the case, the accused will be returned for trial to the Central Criminal Court.
Judge Staunton remanded the accused in custody to appear again in court next Tuesday 16 June for a book of evidence to be served.
