The City Council is hopeful that its new historic Viking Quarter, on completion, can attract up to 80,000 visitors per annum.
Should that target be met, the initiative will undoubtedly generate additional jobs in the local tourism sector, Monday night’s City Council meeting was told. City Manager Michael Walsh said aggressive targets of between 70,000 and 80,000 visitors had been set for the new historic area of the city. “If this is achieved, it will certainly mean more jobs within the three museums”, he added.
