The reduction in agency nurses’ pay is, according to one such Waterford worker, ‘squeezing them out’ of hospitals and forcing many to consider emigration.
According to our source, who wished to retain her anonymity, the “drastic” wage cut which was recently imposed by the Nurse On Call agency, had left many agency nurses considering the nuclear option.
“After completing a four-year degree, to be asked to work for €14 an hour is disgraceful,” she said.
