The felling by vandals of the Fairy Bush, which marked the start of the ‘Magic Road’ near the Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains was condemned by members of Waterford County Council in Dungarvan this week.

The meeting heard that persons unknown cut down the 150-year-old Fairy Bush with a chainsaw in the dead of night and the destruction angered locals and visitors to the mountains. The thorn bush marked the site of a major ‘optical illusion’ where cars appeared to roll uphill against the law of gravity and was a big attraction for visitors.
