Diarmuid Gavin’s winning the tender to create a decorative garden on the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace on The Mall hasn’t gone down well with some members of the Waterford public.
Since we first wrote about the well-known gardener’s plans last July, several comments, most of them decidedly frosty, have been posted by visitors to The Munster Express website.
“He is not a fellow Waterfordian and this should have been given to someone in Waterford who has made similar contributions to the city or county,” posted one.
“This maddens me, the same thing went on at the former ESB centre, none of the vans of the companies that were doing work on the building were even from Waterford, I say shame on the Waterford City Council.”
