The Independent TD for Waterford, Deputy John Halligan, warned this week that thousands of people were being driven into the clutches of mental illness through suffering from a dangerous condition referred to by many health professionals as ‘recession depression’.
Deputy Halligan said the tragic and appalling aspect to the situation was that it was totally unnecessary. Thousands of people and their families were being put through the wringer of absolute misery when some enlightened and ‘out of the box’ thinking would lift a huge burden from their shoulders.
