Now in its fifth year the Waterford 123 Festival has established a fine reputation for presenting the best in performance among Waterford amateur theatre and drama groups. But it has also provided a golden chance to see new work and the new writing strand of this festival has grown. The opportunity for professional adjudication, awards and a critical audience is very attractive. Seven of the twelve pieces presented were new writing.

123 Festival is the creative child of Vanessa and James Hype with the support of Waterford County Council Arts Office, WLRfm and Waterford businesses. This financial support allows the event to take place in the Dungarvan Townhall Theatre and get the adjudication services of Michael Twomey, a man steeped in all aspects of theatre for over fifty years.
