A highlight of the Tall Ships Festival was the Jimmy Crowley and Dave Lordan concert at Greyfriar Gallery. Standing beneath the steering wheel of the sunken Asgard 2, the Cork troubadour famous for his “My Love is a Tall Ship” pleased a capacity audience at an event organised by Waterford Trades Council. His easy style suited narrative songs of soldiers and sailors and an early “She Moved Through The Fair” delighted as he launched into Tommy Sands’ “Who Knows Where the Wind Blows” and his version of “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling” caught the mood of happy Waterford eyes smiling and being proud of a great achievement.
