It is time to celebrate the fine achievement of Waterford-based writer Derbhile Dromey, whose first novel has been published by Book Republic. “The Pink Cage”, is an excellent read on an unusual topic. The adventures of visually impaired Astrid Johnson, a 26-year-old freelance proof-reader who goes on a supervised skiing holiday with hilarious consequences are highlighted. Along the way, she confounds whatever stereotype readers may have imagined and comes across as a tough, fearless woman with normal desires and a wicked sense of enjoyment.
