Vanes Hyde, the Lismore-based Actress stole the show in the Everyman Palace, Cork’s production of Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan.

Her measured and assured approach to the larger than life, Mrs Erlynne was wonderful to behold and she gave a capacity Cork audience, a sparkling night out, that showed once again that the public love big name plays, with large impressive casts and honest production values, without too much stylised messing with the text. Michael Twomey’s direction was clear and uncluttered as was Jim Queally’s fine set design and the fifteen strong ensemble cast worked hard to give clarity and brightness to the many epigrams in this well-known play.
