Carlow Local Authorities made a significant piece of theatre, opera and achievement at the GBShaw Theatre with one of the largest public art commissions ever in Ireland and the first Opera – a community opera to be commissioned by a Local Authority. Using an onstage chorus of over 100 voices, gathered and trained within that county using a composer, writer, Musical Director/Curator and using RTE national Sym[phony Orchestra and Aspiro, a youth arts choral group the project “An Opera For Carlow” became Shelter Me From The Rain (A Field Guide To Love In An Irish Town).
