I can admire a musical society like New Ross for wanting to do an Irish premiere and this young company decided for its 43rd successive production to make local history by choosing a 1997 show The Drowsy Chaperone that had an indifferent professional record. It comes across like a pastiche of a lot of other shows, with great comedy, a clever set, glitzy dancing and an airplane in the finale. When Elaine Paige left the UK production it folded with less than 100 performances.
