Last year’s Intermediate county champions, Roanmore secured their senior status for a second successive year after a four-point win over Stradbally in Walsh Park last Saturday afternoon.

However, after a 13-year stint in the senior ranks, Stradbally will drop down a level next year where they will be hoping to regroup. But on this performance they have a lot of work to do.

Stradbally weren’t helped by the unavailability of some of their better players with Ger Power and Shane Aherne not togged out and Shane Lannon and John Coffey only fit enough to come on as substitutes.

By that time, the inspirational Gavin O’Brien had pushed Roanmore into a one point lead, a lead they never relinquished.
