The battle to avoid the drop into Division One took another twist on Sunday when Southend United defeated Ferrybank 2-0 at The Village Grounds.
The all important opening goal arrived on 77 minutes. Ian Galgey passed the ball to Daniel Murphy who shot at goal. Ferrybank goalkeeper Hubert Mullally could only parry the ball and that gave Lee Hayes the opportunity to score, an opportunity he took with ease from close range.
Four minutes from full time Stephen Murphy sealed the game for Southend with a good finish following good work between Paddy Carey and Ian Galgey.
This result means that Southend have now gone unbeaten in their last six games.
