From the moment referee Anthony Walsh blew the opening whistle in Connors Park on Saturday night, the rain poured down and the wind blew a gale, but nevertheless the two teams on view somehow managed to serve up one of the best games seen to date in the Premier League.
During the latter stages the pitch got really heavy and sticky but all of the players made little of the difficult conditions and each and every one of them deserve enormous credit for producing such a wonderful spectacle.
The previous week Bohemians had climbed off the bottom of the league table by hammering Johnville 5-1 and from the outset here it was clear they badly wanted to build on that victory.
