Many athletes from Waterford clubs competed at the Leevale Open Sports in Cork on Saturday last, and at senior level Ferrybank AC had lots of winners. An outstanding performance came from Ben Kiely in the 400m hurdles; he clocked 53.66 seconds, well inside the qualifying time for the European Youth Olympics in July.
Kelly Proper had a treble in the 100m, 200m, and the long jump; she was also chosen as Athlete of the Meeting.
