Two weeks after they were ‘banished to the bottomless’ pit by a rampant Tipperary, Waterford’s hurlers progressed to the All-Ireland semi-final after an emphatic win over Galway in Semple Stadium on Sunday last.

There was hardly a soul in Thurles who felt that such a spectacular performance was in this Waterford team’s locker.

But the players confounded supporters and critics alike with a performance that was full of passion, commitment, hard work and no shortage of pure hurling skill.
