Despite the driving wind and rain, De La Salle proved too good for an excellent Corinthians outfit from Cork on Saturday afternoon at the Williamstown Complex.
The goals scored during the course of the contest came in a four-minute spell in the second half and late on it took a wonder save from the DLS goalkeeper Tom Farrell to prevent the match going into extra time.
De La Salle will now play Shelbourne in the next stage of the competition. The Waterford team had many stars on the day, none more so than Andrew O’Connor who tormented the Leesiders throughout the 80 minutes.
DLS, now the only remaining club left in this competition at this age group, enjoyed a lot of possession during the first half without really making the visiting goalkeeper work.
