Jim Baldwin: Masters double.

On Sunday last the Munster Junior, Senior and Masters Indoor Championships were staged in Nenagh and athletes from Waterford AC and West Waterford AC won several titles in the Junior and Masters Championships.

Once again at Junior level Kate Veale, West Waterford put up yet another brilliant performance in winning the 3000 metres junior walk title in a new Irish Junior and Youths record time of 13 minutes and one second.

Declan Power won the 3000 metres and Lisa Houlihan was second in the Pole Vault.

In the Masters, athletes in various age categories athletes from the Waterford and West Waterford clubs came away with several wins and silver and bronze medals.

For Waterford AC Jim Baldwin had a double in the 1500 and 3000 metres, and was second in the 800m. Frank Quinlan also had a double in the 800 and 1500 metres.

Jacintha Power was first in the Long Jump and had seconds in the 60, 200 metres and Shot Putt, while Derek Grant was second in the 800 and 1500 metres and was third in the Shot Putt.

For West Waterford, Harry O’Brien won the 1500 and 3000 metres, Joe Gough the 3000 metres and Corina Walsh the 3000 metres.
