George Hook described the media performance of Declan Kidney and Brian O’Driscoll on the eve of Saturday’s opening Six Nations game away to Italy as “the most fearful interview ever given by an Irish manager and captain” ahead of an opening game against the perennial woodenspooners.
“If they’ve uncalculated the same level of non-self-confidence in their team as they have, then I’m… fearful,” Hook said, unable to come up with an alternative term for whatever is the opposite of Warren Gatland’s unxious bravado.
