The remarkable end-of-season success story of the Villa Football Club took another turn for the better in Ozier Park last week when their Under 12A squad, under the guidance of Nicky Denn and Kevin Roche, added the cup to the growing array of trophies which have found a home in Connors Park for the coming year.
Having already won the U12A League, this Villa team went into the final as favourites against a Ferrybank side who gave their all during the course of the 60 minutes, but two second-half goals proved good enough to give the Villa yet another title.
Some of the players on this team had won the U11 cup the previous week so those young players are certainly enjoying a wonderful start to the summer, as indeed are many of their friends at the club. In truth the players who line out in the famous green and white hoops have not won every decider they have contested this season, but by in large the Villa teams are setting a hot pace when it comes to winning leagues and cups.
