Cavan 0-13 Waterford 1-8

Cavan ensured there was no repeat of Waterford’s famous 2006 NFL win at Breffni Park when they emerged with two points to spare over the Deise at the same venue on Sunday last.
In order to maintain any hopes of promotion alive, Waterford will now need to beat Tipperary under lights at Fraher Field a week on Saturday.
But there’s little doubt that this was an opportunity missed on the visitors’ behalf and could well represent one of those ‘what ifs’ come the end of the campaign.
In a drab game that did little for the 500 present, it was the visitors who began the more impressively, taking the lead inside a minute thanks to a Brian Wall free.
