Carers in Waterford, already saving the State hundreds of thousands of Euro by looking after loved ones at home, will be at least €416 poorer next year in the wake of last week’s Budget.
From January 1st, a carer (aged under 66) caring for one person will see their weekly allowance cut by €8 to €204, while a person caring for two or more will receive €306, a €12 reduction.
Speaking to The Munster Express, Waterford Carers’ Association Centre Manager Nuncie Murphy described the allowance cut as deeply unfair and unjust.
