Diarmaid Ferriter, one of the country’s most respected historical and political commentators, will be among the panellists at the Theatre Royal this Saturday discussing the Irish tricolour’s origins and modern significance.

The UCD Professor is in Waterford this weekend as part of the 1848 Tricolour Celebration to be held in the city on both Saturday and Sunday, commemorating the city’s links with the Irish flag.

The ‘Judging Dev’ author will take his place alongside Sunday Independent columnist Carol Hunt and Trinity College Dublin’s Dr Suzanne O’Reilly at the Leviathan Political Cabaret, which will be chaired by RTE’s Myles Dungan.
