Starting up a new business requires planning, patience and more than a smidgen of optimism given the head-first plunge that entrepreneurship can sometimes represent.
Take Butlerstown-based Jason Moran for example, whose new venture www.yourtrainer.ie has been up and running since the spring.
Jason, a winner of Irish Schools and Under-21 rugby caps who went on to line out professionally in Leinster colours, has been living in Waterford since 2008.
“I’d had my fill of life in Dublin, to be honest,” Jason told The Munster Express recently.
“I’d always liked Waterford – it’s smaller, it’s more intimate and the quality of life here is streets ahead of what I’d had in Dublin, so making the decision to move here was a very easy decision.”
A ‘strength and conditioning practitioner’ as his online profile puts it; Jason’s new personal training service allows clients to conduct fitness programmes in the gym, at home or even at work. And it’s all available at the click of a mouse!
“One of the off-shoots of the downturn has been a decline in gym membership – many would now see it as a luxury item as opposed to a necessity, and that’s where the website comes in,” he explains.
