Casual trading in County Waterford is under review by the County Council and new bye-laws are being drawn up to cover casual trading in markets around the county.

Director of Services Frank Curran said the new bye-laws would come before the County Council in February. Casual trading was designed to cover small local producers. Contact was being made with chambers of commerce in drafting the new bye-laws.

County Secretary Martin Walsh said casual trading was currently allowed in five locations around the county and there was no activity in two of these areas. There had been a build up of casual trading at Mahon Falls over a period of time.
